Privacy Policy for RecipeTailor
1. The Short Version
LifeVen LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("LifeVen," "we," "us"), makes RecipeTailor. Your recipes stay on your device. RecipeTailor has no account and sends none of your recipes to a LifeVen server, so almost everything a privacy policy usually covers simply does not happen here. This Policy explains the little that does: what your device stores, what the app stores and our purchase provider handle, and what you send us yourself.
2. What Stays on Your Device
The recipes and records you create — recipes, ingredients, scaling plans, cooking history, notes, and related content, including classics you add to My recipes — are saved in app-managed storage on your device. RecipeTailor requires no account and transmits none of it to a LifeVen server. LifeVen cannot view or retrieve those records remotely. There is no cloud sync, no advertising SDK, and no developer-operated behavioral analytics in RecipeTailor.
RecipeTailor lets you export your recipes to a file on your device, which you then send wherever you choose using your device's standard share options (for example AirDrop, Files, or email), and import that file back later. Export and import do not send your recipes to a LifeVen server; the file passes only through the destination you pick, which handles it under its own terms and privacy policy.
3. Permissions and Connectivity
RecipeTailor requests no device permissions: no camera, microphone, photo library, location, or contacts. Recipes are entered by typing or pasting text. Your recipes, Tailor, and Cooking Mode work offline; showing RecipeTailor Pro plans, buying, and restoring a purchase need an internet connection.
4. App Stores, Purchases, and Diagnostics
Apple and Google may process installation, purchase, crash, performance, and diagnostic information under their own policies, and may give us aggregated or diagnostic reports depending on your device and store settings. We use those to run, secure, and fix the app.
RecipeTailor uses a purchase-management provider, RevenueCat, to show RecipeTailor Pro plans and to check with Apple or Google whether a purchase is valid on your device. It receives a random app-specific identifier, basic device, platform, country, language, and app-version information, the IP address any internet request carries, and the purchase and receipt data the store returns — not your recipes or notes, and never your card number. RevenueCat processes this as our service provider. Paid access is device and store state, not part of your recipes, so importing a backup never restores a purchase; use Restore Purchases instead.
5. What You Send Us
If you email support we receive your address, your message, anything you attach, and whatever device or app detail you include. Please send only the minimum needed to investigate, and no private recipes unless we ask for a specific one. We use it to answer you, fix problems, prevent abuse, keep a record of the request, and comply with law, then delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed.
6. What We Never Do
LifeVen does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising — not in the past twelve months, and not for anyone we know to be under 16. We may disclose information we actually hold to service providers who help us with purchases, email, hosting, security, or diagnostics; when law or valid legal process requires it; to protect rights and safety; or in a merger, financing, or sale of assets. Service providers may use it only for the service they provide to us.
7. Security, Retention, and Deletion
We use reasonable measures for information we control. Your local records are protected mainly by your device, its passcode, and your backup settings — no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee against loss or unauthorized access.
Deleting a recipe or record removes its app-managed data from the app's storage. Uninstalling removes the app's local data, subject to any standard device backup held by Apple, Google, or your platform account. Because we do not store your recipes on a server, there is no LifeVen copy to delete. Purchase records held by our purchase-management provider are kept as long as needed to verify and support purchases and to meet tax, accounting, store, and legal obligations; you can ask us to delete them. Cancel a subscription in your app-store account — deleting the app does not cancel it.
8. Children
RecipeTailor is not directed to children under 13 — or under 16 in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland — and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has emailed us, tell us so we can review and delete it.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information LifeVen actually holds or has our service providers hold, to object to our use of it, or to appeal a decision we make about such a request. Email recipetailor@lifeven.com; we may take reasonable steps to verify the request and may keep information where the law allows or requires. We will not treat you differently for asking. These rights cover what we hold — they do not give us access to records on your device, which you already control in the app.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland. LifeVen LLC is the controller. We rely on legitimate interests in running, securing, and improving RecipeTailor and preventing abuse; on performance of a contract for purchases and services you ask for; on consent where we ask for it, which you can withdraw; and on legal obligation where the law requires. Information we or our service providers receive is processed in the United States under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or another lawful mechanism. You may complain to your national data protection authority, or in the UK to the Information Commissioner's Office. We do not make decisions about you by automated means that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
10. Changes, and Features We May Add
We will update this Policy and the app-store privacy information before a change to how information is handled goes live, and the date at the top will change with it.
Features that would require such an update include photo or voice recipe import, automated or AI-assisted features that send what you submit to a processing provider, accounts, cloud backup or sync, sharing or publishing, LifeVen-operated analytics or crash reporting, and push notifications or email. Listing them does not mean they exist or are planned — it means none of them will arrive quietly. A photo or voice import, for example, would send only the photo or clip you submit, only to extract recipe text, and would not make the processing provider a store of your recipe library. Two things will not change: we will not sell your recipes, and any feature that would send them off your device will be optional and explained before you turn it on.
